It’s been a while since I last posted. June was a busy month as we got to grips with being a family of five. I write this with my three month old baby lying across my chest, sprawled out across it rather than being curled up like he would have been last month. He smells so good after having a lavender scented bubble bath in his Tummy Tub and he looks so peaceful in his favourite place on my chest listening to my heartbeat. I will get around to doing his three month update soon.
So in May we finally found our perfect house after months of extensive, exhausting house hunting which began in early January. We first saw the house in March and following weeks of painfully annoying mortgage application paperwork, baby no.3 arriving three weeks early and Niall travelling abroad for work, it was the end of May when we finally got around to getting our place on the market and putting a deposit down on the new place.
The new house is awesome, it’s small but perfect for us. It’s a new build with an open plan design, big kitchen/dining room and a living and family area. It has a separate utility room to the back of the house with small garden but it’s in a big family friendly estate and five minutes from local schools. And the best part is it’s only a short drive to the beach.
Amazingly after only one viewing we had an offer on our place and it went sale agreed less than a week later. We’re now in the process of finalising contracts, singing last of the documents this Thursday and it looks like we’ll be moving out around mid-August. I’m trying to curb my enthusiasm until we are actually moving into our new home just in case anything goes wrong but I am so frickin’ excited about it. I’ve bought the moving boxes and started to pack up the things we rarely use.
Other than preparing to move we also got out to enjoy the sun at the beginning of June, visiting Newbridge House and Farm (our favourite picnic spot) on the bank holiday weekend. The grounds are immaculate, the playground is awesome and you can even bring your own BBQ.
It was our first day out as a family of five and it was so hot but the baby slept most of it and also slept so well that night after the fresh air. The following day was just as glorious and we headed to the Bloom Festival in the Phoenix Park.
June was also a month of goodbyes. Chloe said goodbye to her school and the friends she’s made there over the past five years. Seán finished pre-school, had his adorable pre-school graduation ceremony and said goodbye to his minders who he’s known since he started there at 13 months old. We’re preparing to say goodbye to our first home that we’ve lived in for over ten years now. We have definitely outgrown it as our family has expanded but it will still be sad to say goodbye, it’s the place we brought all three of our babies home to, where Chloe & Sean took their first steps, where they made great friends and childhood memories. But we’re all excited to see what the future brings in our new home, in a new town and I’m looking forward to the new memories.
